Following this flow of slime, let me make a transition from sound to light, which RaDiates. Because, yes, CoLoR is a slimy flowing thing. And the most vivid color is ReD, aʔH̱MaR in Arabic, the color of the donkey ḥaMowR in Hebrew (which was ReD before it was GRay).

And in Hebrew, light, which RaDiates, is ʔowR, like the GLaRing gold, oR in French (which oRe is related) and ouRaNos, the Greek sky god. Indeed, people have long believed that, just like sound and smell, light travels through the aiR. Not so long ago, it was called eTheR, from Greek aiTheR.

The French and English languages have preserved this semantic connection between aiR and light, with auRa or auReoLa, a visible envelope of aiR surrounding mysterious figures, or auRoRe in French, the moment when light appears in the MoRNing, as in auRoRa BoRealis in English (and Latin ...). But, more importantly, to see in Hebrew is Raʔah and oRao in Greek, where the word TheoRy comes from, for example. A TheoRy is something beautiful to contemplate - a bit like my videos 😉

In Arabic, of course, we also find this connection between light, NouWR and fire NAR - just as the candle shedding light is NèR in Hebrew (I confess I focused on Greek, Latin and Hebrew. Don't worry, others will come after me to enrich this picture of air in all the world's languages).

This connection between BReaTh, aiR, sound and light should in any case give you a better understanding of the first verses of the Gospel according to John – which are seminal in Christianity: “In the beginning was the WoRD, and the WoRD was with God, and the WoRD was God. It was in the beginning with God. All things were made through it, and without it was not any thing made that was made. In it was life, and the life was the Light of men.”

The only problem is that the copyist monks who set these founding words of Christianity in stone in the 1st century AD got it, how shall we say, a little wrong. For the word used for WoRD is LoGos. And one thing we can be sure of is that Christ certainly didn't use LoGos, for this word comes from the verb LéGô which means to say, but mostly to pick and to ReaD. LoGos is therefore completely imbued with WRiTing - and ChRiST, being a super-linguist, abhorred the WRiTTenWoRD. Remember, “the LeTTeR killeth, but the SPiRiT giveth life.”

No, I think the Greek word that Christ - who was at least bilingual - used was éiRô which also means WoRD, but without that sense of to pick or to read, in which we find the “R” which gives life. From éiRô also comes the word éiRèNè - which means peace, the holy peace the Messiahs have been bringing since the dawn of time thanks to their mastery of song, ReNaNah in Hebrew, and of the aRT of the WoRD, which I referred to in my last video.

Choosing LoGos rather than éiRô was a bit of a gamble. Well, at least, to talk about the beginning, our mischevious copyists used aRQè. Remember, sound, like light, is FiRST and FoRemost PoWeR eMeRGing, flashing, RuShing. That's why « Ra » is the beginning, the oRiGiN, and also why RoʔSh in Hebrew means the beginning and the head, which is the first thing to emerge from the MoTheR's womb with the PRiMoRDial CRy: Tuuuuuu!

We find this semantics of eMeRGence in Greek with oRNuMi, which means to incite and oRiNô which means to excite. It is found mainly in Latin with oRioR which means to be born, to begin, to aRiSe, to oRiGiNate. These RooTs are also the SouRCe of the words oRiGiN, oRieNT and aBoRiGiNal. Our dear auSTRaLian aBoRiGiNals, whom, thank God, Westerners have failed to exterminate.

And coming back to the translation error between LoGos and éiRô, don't WoRRy, it's not that bad. Like many other errors, it has been « rectified » over the past thousands of years. The French translation of this first verse of the Gospels according to John in fact uses the word VeRBe for WoRD, which comes from a Latin root related to éiRô. Phew! Now we understand why France is called the eldest daughter of the . It always has been. Long before there was even a Church and long before there were even Jews, tens of thousands of years ago...

By the way, those mischievous copyists of the first century AD made another translation error. This time in John's first epistle - and it's just as significant. It's about love, aMouR, remember « God is love », in chapter 4 verse 8. The Christians among you know by heart the Greek word that was used : the famous aGaPè, foundational in the Christian tradition. But here again, another Greek word, much more famous, means love, although it might have had too strong a pagan and sexual overtone: the word éRôS, and yes, the God of Love, of aMouR in French, as between RoMeo and juLiet.

This assonance between éiRô, the word, and éRôS, love, probably terrified the emerging Church of the first century as it struggled against pagan oRGies. éiRô and éRôS were far too strong for the masses. LoGos and aGaPè would be fine. But in the process of losing those sounds, Christ's words lost all their sense.
