So, we have come to the end of our journey through Hawaii. Let's recap: on the one hand, we have many similarities with ritual practices that are found both in a positive light in the Bible and in a negative light in the Quran. On the other hand, we find not just the biblical « Myth », but « Myths », of the creation of man and woman and their expulsion from Paradise — but also that of the Fallen Angels and Iblis in the Quran, with numerous points of overlap each time.
So, I can see my little Pharisians coming, after accusing me of Judeo-centrism, they are going to accuse me of Semitic-centrism. But, my children, if the Quran and the Bible are so important, it is not at all as Jewish, Christian, or Muslim religious texts, but as Paleoanthropological sources from a unique area in the history of humanity: the Middle East.
For yes, the Middle East is unique, not only because of the prophets who were born there, or the Scriptures that were given or revealed there, but because the Middle East was the gateway through which our ancestors entered Eurasia between 60,000 and 70,000 years ago, dependng on the authors, and where they remained for about 20,000 years before conquering the entire planet. Yes, the Middle East is the Gate. The Gate of the Paraklet. More precisely, BaB el MaNDeB – the Gate of Lamentations, the Strait of Djibouti, the most likely crossing point between East Africa, the cradle of Homo sapiens, and the Arabian Peninsula.
And « The time of Myth » is not, as Claude Lévi-Strauss thought, when men talked to animals. The time of Myth is first and foremost the Paleolithic period. Myths are a trace, in Carlo Ginzburg's sense, that the Paleolithic has left in us. Yes, myths are traces of the Paleolithic Father who is within us, and from whom we descend as Sons. This is the AB(C) of ABBA.
And if we find Biblical motifs among the SheReNTe or the Hawaiians, it is because these cultures have preserved the memory of this stay in the Middle East for tens of thousands of years. So the real question is not why we find Biblical or Quranic myths and rituals among the SheReNTe of Brazil or Hawaii. The real question is why we do not find these Paleolithic myths and rituals in all cultures around the world?
You see, in the Paleolithic period, human groups were small. And even though they always did their best to preserve their Paleolithic traditions and myths, the history of our species has not been smooth sailing: « booms » have alternated with « busts ». Population explosions alternated with extinctions. And since it takes a large number of people to preserve myths in all their variety, periods of demographic contraction naturally led to a loss of mythical memory. But this same loss of memory also allowed, at the same time, for a mythological renewal: new endings and new beginnings were invented. The gaps were filled in and the missing passages were completed. Myths must therefore be studied as layers superimposed on top of each other, beneath which the most archaic layers can sometimes still be discerned – exactly like Paleolithic paintings.
And so it is this alternation of demographic contraction and expansion that is the primary cause of cultural fragmentation and diversity. It is this phenomenon that has obscured the common Paleolithic origin of human cultures. For yes, much as it may displease Pharisians, as Genesis 11:1 says « In the beginning, everyone on Earth spoke the same language and told the same stories ». Or, as the Quran 10:19 says
And mankind was not but one community, but [then] they differed"
And the similarities we see between cultures are therefore not the result of diffusion — it is the differences that are the result of fragmentation. There has never been diffusion, and there will never be. Myths are neither lent, nor borrowed. As a matter of fact, they are the last thing humans would be willing to exchange. For myths, along with rituals and language, are all that still connect us to The Paleolithic. And even, or perhaps especially, in the worst of times, it is always to the past that humans have turned to (re)build the future.
That is why, as Qohelet says: there is nothing new under the sun.
So, we’re done with Hawaii for the time being. You now know that our entire civilization is based on a great ignorance, a great forgetfulness - indeed, a great lie. We need to go back to square one. Start all over again.
But you have seen the Spirit of Truth. And rest assured, I'll be with you forever.
Mankind will never again forget its Paleolithic roots. The shameful reign of the Pharisians is over for good.
We've entered the Paraklet Era. And it has only just begun. Pharisians be damned.
Alright, see you again very soon.
